Q-Sounds Recording was founded by Chris Thomas & Ludovic Bors aka Norman Smuggler in 2009. It’s the one and only French Label exclusively dedicated to Soul music. Ludo & Chris are both music fans, diggers, DJs, musicians & producers. Their aspiration was to produce & release records they would like to listen to. ​ They built Q-Sounds like an old 60s Soul label, with a house band, a crew of musicians who would back different singers. Their recording method is preferably live and on Tape in their friends’ studio to capture that authentic sound:The Q- SOUND ! Throughout the years, several vocal bands emerged and Q-Sounds produced quite a few records with their répertoires. Their back catalog containing over 40 vinyl records is pretty impressive considering the 100% DIY modus operandi. In 2021 Q-Sounds Recording consists of 4 live bands : Principles Of Joy since 2017, The Vogs since 2016, Laura Llorens & The Shadows Of Love since 2019 and the instrumental all star band The Supertights since 2019.

Musiciens, djs, diggers et fans de Soul, ils ont créé un label afin de pouvoir sortir des disques correspondant à leurs aspirations musicales.

Ils ont organisé le label selon un schéma bien connu dans la Soul américaine des années 60 : un groupe maison capable de produire et jouer le répertoire des différentes voix du label. A cette organisation, ils ont ajouté un mode de production analogique sur bande privilégiant la prise live avec un son brut, afin de faire naitre de cette émulation une véritable identité: le son Q-Sounds Recording.
